This year is trending higher in the number tornadoes. The deadliest Michigan tornado occurred in Beecher -- near Flint -- on June 8, 1953. Notes: A small tornado touched down in the back yard of a home about a quarter mile west of the caution light on IN 60 in Borden and uprooted trees and caused roof damage to the home. The tornado crossed Interstate 65, damaging several vehicles and semis and closing the interstate for several hours.
